History Behind CART at Events
There was a time, seemingly not long ago, where a person with hearing impairment could not have a fulfilling experience at a conference or expo due to his/her inability to hear effectively over large crowds. CART was on the scene before 1990 when the ADA was signed into law and began to help these individuals. But the law mandated that every individual receives reasonable access to effective communication. Leveraging CART to Help All Attendees
Although CART is one of the fastest growing ways to assist those with hearing loss, CART can also be used to help anyone have a more positive experience. Since we are able to provide CART captions to any preferred smart device through a hyperlink, we are able to provide captions to people who were not in attendance at the conference. Also in the past we have seen people use our services in breakout groups, giving attendees the ability to listen to one panel in one room as well as read CART captions for a panel/event in another room. By doing this attendees are able to effectively get the information from two separate events that they might have wanted to attend, but that were happening concurrently. These are examples demonstrating how CART cannot only be used to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, but can create a better experience for all attendees.
